I am 25 and this is my first time voting.
I arrived at the voting spot at 7 am and waited 2 hours before I could vote.
I was the 106th voter at my location.
My vote-receipt sticker said: “My vote counted!”—which I thought was a bit premature.
I did feel giddy after voting, even though the experience was really boring.
I think Obama trained me for election day by making me wait for hours to get into his Detroit rally and his Jay-Z bribe show vote-o-thon.
DAMON WEAVER: THE BEST NEWSMAN IN THE GAME!!!
I love this.
You may not like Barack Obama but it’s hard to not love Damon Weaver.
one more week. and things aren’t going to get any less emotional. especially after reading the huff po article today on assassination plans.
my mama sent me an email a little bit ago on how she was affected by the kennedy assassination. she was only eleven when it happened:
Don’t remember much about the Kennedy era, except for when he got murdered. And I suppose my parents did not vote for him! But I do remember when he was killed there was a great sense of loss of hope! Who would have conveyed that to me I am not sure - watching TV perhaps.
chaely sums it up nicely:
The other night I was listening to a speech Barack gave and it dawned on me that what I was feeling - an almost overwhelming sense of excitement and longing and maybe even a little helplessness - was exactly what our parents and grandparents were feeling in the 60’s when Kennedy spoke. He’s more than just a candidate, he’s an inspiration and a role model for how to be a good man, a good father & a good citizen.I predict that the Obama art won’t get packed away anytime soon. Win or lose, he has inspired the entire country to be a little bit better. He’s iconic.
At the Obama rally at the Joe back whenever it was, I remember that Al Gore went off and started talking about John F. Kennedy, and I was like, what in god’s name is he talking about? I don’t know who all of this Kennedy talk resonates with, but it sure does not resonate with me or anybody that I know. I dunno, I could be completely wrong, but it seems to me that Kennedy nostaliga is for white people, which sort of boggled my mind as to why Gore rambled on about it in Detroit. I was like, here we are, first black president, and we’re talking about some goofy white guy from forty years ago? I don’t get it.
